Praying for Israel

Prayer for Jerusalem must become a top priority of ours as we partner with the Lord to see His Kingdom come to earth as it is in heaven. Let’s pray not just for the peace of Jerusalem, but also against the plans of the devil, who has always desired the destruction of the Jewish people.

Pray for the peace of Israel:

Psalms 122: 6-9  (HCSB)  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.7 May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.

  • Lord, bring the enemies of Israel down. We ask that all their plans and strategies will unfold and be ineffective.
  • We come against the spirit of hate and murder that has revolted against Israel and command it to be dismantled, in Jesus’ name.
  • We also want to pray for peace and protection from all unrest in our nation.

Pray for the protection of civilians on all sides and for the hostages:

  • Pray for the protection and rescue of the hundred or more who have been kidnapped by Hamas. We must pray that their evil schemes will be thwarted, just as the plot by Haman was thwarted (Book of Esther). https://firmisrael.org/praybyname/
  • Pray for those who have been wounded to get the medical attention they need to recover well. Pray for their physical and emotional healing.
  • Pray for the Israeli people and all civilians who are mourning. May they experience God’s comfort and the healing of their pain.

Pray for Israel’s leadership:

  • Pray for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Pray for all those defending Israel’s borders. May they witness God move in a miraculous way in their protection and deliverance. Deuteronomy 33:29 (HCSB) Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their backs.”
  • Pray for wisdom for Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and for all of Israel’s leaders. Pray for Israel’s next action. Isaiah 30: 21 (NIV) Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
  • Pray for the following key leaders:
  1. Yoav Gallant: A former commander in the Israel Defense Forces, Gallant has served as the minister of defense since 2022. He has been instrumental in Israel’s war efforts, mobilizing troops on Oct. 7 and declaring a siege of Gaza on Oct. 9.
  2. Herzi Halevi: He has served as the Israel Defense Forces’ Chief of General Staff since Jan. 16, 2023. Since joining the IDF in 1985, he has held a variety of positions. He is one of the most important members of Israel’s leadership during this time of war.
  3. Ronen Bar: The Israel Security Agency, also known as Shabak and Shin Bet, is Israel’s internal security service. Bar has been the ISA’s director since October 13, 2021. The ISA monitors the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, providing intelligence on terrorist rings and plans. Bar’s work is vital to Israel’s counteroffensive strategies, especially now.
  4. Benny Gantz: Gantz leads the National Unity political alliance, an opposition party in Israel’s government. Since the Hamas attack, he has formed an “emergency unity government” alongside Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud party. He also heads a war cabinet with Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant.

Pray that the nations around the world will stand with Israel:

  • Pray that national leaders will receive God-given ideas on how to help and what to do. Genesis 12: 3 (HCSB) I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
  • Pray for all corruption and lies to be exposed.
  • Pray that the truth about the conflict will also be reflected by our media channels. Lord, send your Spirit of Truth to dismantle every lie.
  • Pray for the doors for humanitarian efforts to open and for those efforts to be honest and trustworthy.
