Wednesday Night Prayer | September 10, 2025 | Mountain of Religion

According to Merriam-Webster, religion is “the service and worship of God, or the supernatural.” The four largest religious groups currently are: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism.

We have the numbers in this area of influence; however, we haven’t displaced the influence of idolatry, the religious spirit, nor the spirit of human reason YET.

The religious spirit, idolatry, and human reasoning sit on this mountain and are assigned to steal worship designated for God. These spirits hate the power, the Truth, the presence, and the passion of God that Holy Spirit brings to earth. Without Holy Spirit our religion is dead. Holy Spirit is specifically for us in our time. The Father sent Jesus, who, on the cross, paid the price for the redemption of man and all of creation. Jesus told His disciples that in addition to the work of redemption on the cross, His purpose was to send the Holy Spirit to help them. (The Seven Mountain Prophecy: Unveiling the Coming Elijah Revolution, by Johnny Enlow)

True worshippers have been given authority to displace every enemy from the top of this mountain, “so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. ~Isaiah 61:11

  • We pray that His Kingdom comes to the mountain of religion as it is in heaven.

1st Prayer Point: We want to be true worshipers who worship the Father in spirit and truth. We must repent of all forms of idolatry.

John 4:23 (HCSB) But an hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Yes, the Father wants such people to worship Him.

  • We repent Lord of all forms of idolatry, of anything that has gotten our eyes and focus off you God.

Deuteronomy 29:18 (HCSB) Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations; make sure there is no root among you that produces such bitter poison.

  • Forgive us Lord if we have ever offered performance-based worship to you. Create in us a pure heart for you and renew a right spirit within us. We repent of any human reasoning that keeps us from worshiping you in spirit and in truth.

Isaiah 29:13 (HCSB) The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught. Help us Lord not to bow down to human reasoning, we want to worship you in spirit and in truth.

  • We repent for coming in agreement with a religious spirit that tries to keep us from ministering outside of how Holy Spirit is guiding and directing. Help us to be Spirit led in all that we do. We are asking for the Spirit of Truth and Revelation to come and fill our hearts.

Romans 8:14 (NKJV) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

  • Pray that human reasoning which creates a type of Christianity that is a form of godliness but denies its power will be displaced in our church and the entire Body of Christ.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (HCSB) But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.

Pray that we will not be image driven and steeped in pride.

2nd Prayer Point: Unity

We rejoice in the Lord for all the work He is doing in the Tampa Bay region with pastors and churches. The uniting of churches is happening! Let’s continue to pray for unity within our church, the churches in this region, and those all around the world.

  • Pray for a spirit of unity to continue to be built among the churches in the Tampa Bay region.

Hebrews 10:23-25 (HCSB) Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, 25 not staying away from our meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

Philippians 2:1-4 (HCSB) If then there is any encouragement in Christ, if       any consolation of  love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection   and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by thinking the same way, having the same                 love, sharing the same feelings, focusing on one goal. 3 Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than     yourselves. 4 Everyone should look out not [only] for his own interests,               but also for the interests of others.

  • Pray that churches will band together as a unified army so as to effectively win the lost in this region together and to bring influence in every area of our culture.

John 17: 21-23 (HCSB) May they all be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I am in You. May they also be one in Us, so the world may believe You sent Me. 22 I have given them the glory You have given Me. May they be one as We are one. 23 I am in them and You are in Me. May they be made completely one, so the world may know You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.

  • We declare that we, The Crossing Church, are a church family that is not easily offended and walking in forgiveness is easy for us. Pray that we would not carry offense toward one another and ask the Lord to help us to let go of any unforgiveness towards each other.

2 Corinthians 13:11 (HCSB) Finally, brothers, rejoice. Be restored, be encouraged, be of the same mind, be at peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.

Ephesians 4: 2-3 (HCSB) with all humility and gentleness, with patience, accepting one another in love, 3 diligently keeping the unity of the Spirit with the peace that binds [us].

Colossians 3: 13-14 (HCSB) accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so also you must [forgive]. 14 Above all, [put on] love-the perfect bond of unity.

  • Pray that Holy Spirit will move in us and all believers in this region like never before, causing the mountain of religion to shake and its dark forces to be displaced.

Ephesians 5: 16-21 (HCSB) making the most of the time, because the days are evil. 17 So don’t be foolish but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 And don’t get drunk with wine, which [leads to] reckless actions, but be filled with the Spirit: 19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music to the Lord in your heart, 20 giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.

  • Pray that we will be a church body that cares more about what Holy Spirit wants us to do than what man wants.

3rd Prayer Point: Pray for Israel

Prayer for Israel must become a top priority in order to take back complete influence of this sphere in our culture.

  • Pray for peace to come to Israel.

Psalms 122: 6-9  (HCSB)  Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure.7 May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.”8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.”9 For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.

  • Lord, bring the enemies of Israel down. We ask that all their plans and strategies continue to unfold and be ineffective.
  • We come against the spirit of hate and murder that has revolted against Israel and command it to be dismantled, in Jesus’ name.
  • Pray for prosperity and protection over her government leaders, spiritual leaders, heads of families and all who are in authority. We declare Psalms 121 over them.

Psalms 121 I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber. 4 Indeed, the Protector of Israel does not slumber or sleep. 5 The Lord protects you; the Lord is a shelter right by your side. 6 The sun will not strike you by day, or the moon by night. 7 The Lord will protect you from all harm; He will protect your life. 8 The Lord will protect your coming and going both now and forever.

4th Prayer Point: Pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters all around the world. The countries listed here are the top six nations where Christian persecution is taking place. We are going to focus specifically on these and trust God for His miraculous intervention.

1 Corinthians 12:25-26 (HCSB) so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other. 26 So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

(Information gathered from opendoorsus.org)

North Korea: If your Christian faith is discovered in North Korea, you will either be immediately executed or deported to a horrendous labor camp that few survive.

Somalia: Al-Shabaab, a violent Islamic militant group, is at war with the government and controls large swathes of the country. They enforce a strict form of Sharia (Islamic law) and are committed to eradicating Christianity from Somalia.

Yemen: Anyone thought to be Christian can face monitoring, detention, torture, ill treatment and even murder. Persecution has increased as Houthi rebels – Islamic militants – have expanded their control.

Libya: In Libya, following Jesus is a huge risk for anyone. Libyan Christians with a Muslim background face violent pressure from their families and communities to renounce their faith.

Eritrea: It’s incredibly dangerous to follow Jesus in Eritrea. Last year saw another mass arrest of Christians. Only certain denominations are recognized by Eritrea’s government, with harsh persecution for Evangelicals and other non-traditional churches and for any believer from a Muslim background.

Nigeria: More Christians are killed for their faith in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world, according to Open Doors research. In the past few months there have been over 200 Christians murdered by Islamic Fulani militant groups.

  • Pray God’s comfort over His people in these nations. Pray that He will bless those who are mourning the death of their loved ones with His peace and love.

Psalms 102:17 (HCSB) He will pay attention to the prayer of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.

Philippians 2: 3-4 (HCSB) Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. 4 Everyone should look out not [only] for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

Psalm 23:1-5 (HCSB) The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack. 2 He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3 He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name’s sake. 4 Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff-they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

  • Pray for the perpetrators who are persecuting Christians—that they will repent and turn to Jesus and believe He is their Savior.

John 3:16-17 (HCSB) “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  17 For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

1 Timothy 2:1-4 (HCSB) First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 2 for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

  • Pray that justice and righteousness will reign within these nations.

Job 12:22 (HCSB) He reveals mysteries from the darkness and brings the deepest darkness into the light.

Proverbs 21:15 (HCSB) Justice executed is a joy to the righteous but a terror to those who practice iniquity.

Amos 5:24 (HCSB) But let justice flow like water, and righteousness, like an unfailing stream.

  • Pray for Christians losing hope amidst ongoing violent persecution. Pray that God will strengthen them and His Spirit will help them hold fast to the truth that Jesus has already overcome the world.

Psalms 147: 3 (HCSB) He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Psalms 91:11-16 (HCSB) For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways. 12 They will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the young lion and the serpent. 14 Because he is lovingly devoted to Me, I will deliver him; I will exalt him because he knows My name. 15 When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor. 16 I will satisfy him with a long life and show him My salvation.

Romans 15:13 (HCSB) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
