Kids Camp

Crossing Kids Camp – Start The Party (Grades 2-5)

Hey Crossing Families,

Now that you're registered for Crossing Kids Camp, we want to gear up for the exciting week we have planned for your kiddos next month. So, in this email, we'd like to give you all the additional information you'll need for the week of such as pickup, what to bring, and what to expect.

 Let's start with the basics, like what to bring and what not to bring:

WHAT TO BRING

Bible
Pen or Pencil
Snacks for camp - we are asking parents to bring snacks in their original manufacturer packaging that will be used for the whole camp. This is a REQUIRED item to help us provide snacks for kids and leaders at camp all week.  You should bring these snacks on the first day, and we will collect them at Check In.  Please ONLY bring snacks from the following categories:
    * Individually packaged chips

    * Individually packaged cookies

    * Individually packaged Cheeze-Its and Goldfish

    * Individually packaged beef jerky/Slim Jims

    * Individually packaged granola bars

    * Individually packaged fruit chews

Wear camp t-shirt on Thursday.
Rugged, older clothes are better for camp. We will be playing outside.
Tennis shoes need to be worn every day. Flip flops, Crocs, etc., will not be ideal footwear for our activities.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

Cell phones, iPads, Game Boys, ear pods, DS games, etc. - this will be gathered each morning if kids bring these, and then returned at pick up, so they will not have access to them. We will provide numbers to call if you need to contact us or your child for any reason.
Toys/stuffed animals
Purses (we will not have a place to keep these secure)
Insect repellent or Sunscreen – we will be providing these to each small group leader to apply to their kids.
Extra changes of clothing or swimsuits – we will not be having water games, so kids will not need changes of clothing.
Now that we have that out of the way. Let's tackle the medicine, food, and drop-off/pickup questions:

MEDICINE

If your child must take any medications during the day at camp, please bring all medications in a Ziploc bag with your child’s first and last name on it. Medications should have their prescription labels on them.
Medications and information concerning them should be entered into the registration form and then presented to our nurse each day at check-in and checked out each day at pick-up.  You should continue to give the am and pm meds at home yourself, and only bring medications that need to be given during the time frame that they are checked into camp.  Again, you will bring these each day and give them to our nurse, and we will sign them back to you at pick up each day.

FOOD

Lunches will be provided each day. The menu will be released later in our next parent information email.
If your child has allergies or food sensitivities, those should be entered into the registration form, and our staff will follow up with the parents concerning food options. However, we also want to encourage you to take the initiative to email your Crossing Kids campus Director if you have concerns when the menu is released.  We want to accommodate your child’s needs.
You should feed your child breakfast before being dropped off, and we will not be providing dinners.  Extended Care kids will receive snacks if needed in the morning and snacks in the evening from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
ALL kids will receive pizza on Thursday at 5:00 pm, since pick up will be later, so that everyone can stay and attend our Family Experience Thursday at 6:00 pm.

DROPOFF/ PICKUP

Extended care will start at 7:30 am. We will not be able to check any child in before 7:30 am. Regular camp check-in will start at 8:30 am, and services will start at 9:10, so please allow time to walk your child in and check them in each day so that they don’t miss anything.

You will receive a coded tag at check-in that must be with you at pick-up (or a picture of the coded tag). If you are carpooling or another parent is going to pick up your child, you will need to fill out an additional form at check-in to confirm your consent for another parent to pick up your child.
Camp check-out will begin at 4:30 pm. Any child not picked up by 5:00 pm will be transitioned to Extended Care, and the parent will need to pay for Extended Care. We schedule volunteers to serve in Extended Care based on how many kids we know will be attending it each day.  If something changes in your week and you need Extended Care or additional Extended Care times beyond what you filled out on the registration form, please contact us.  The cost for Extended Care is $30, whether you use it once or twice a day, every day.
Extended Care pick-up can be any time from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
Thursday afternoon pick-up will be LATER than the pick-up time on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  Pick up Thursday for both regular campers and Extended Care campers will be from 5:30 pm to 5:50 pm.  Then our Family Experience starts at 6:00 pm!

    Thursday evening, all parents will pick their children up a little later, as we will be having a Celebration Family Experience at 6:00 pm for parents and any other family members who would like to see and hear the kids share what they have learned during the week!  All parents will need to arrive between 5:30 and 5:50 pm.  You will be united with your child in the auditorium to sit together until the Family Experience begins at 6:00 pm. We are excited to spend this time worshiping, laughing, and learning together with all our families as we end our week of Start The Party!" Your kids will be showing you what they learned from ON STAGE!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
